Una paciente pediátrica fue sometida a una operación inédita para el Hospital Municipal de Olavarría
En la jornada de ayer, en el Hospital Municipal “Dr. Héctor M. Cura” se realizó con éxito una operación inédita en Olavarría; a cargo de profesionales que integran la planta de salud municipal; coordinada por el Dr. Agustín Alcorta, especialista en Traumatología Infantil; quien en el mes de agosto se incorporó a la planta municipal para ejercer esta disciplina.
El Dr. Alcorta estudió Medicina en nuestra ciudad, en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud de UNICEN. Posteriormente, realizó su residencia en el Higa San Martín de La Plata y en el Hospital Británico de Buenos Aires, donde actualmente integra el equipo de Ortopedia Infantil.
En cuanto a la cirugía, el Dr. Alcorta explicó que “tuvo como destinataria a una paciente pediátrica, y consistió en una intervención de pie cavo neuro-ortopédico. Puntualmente en lo que respecta a esta intervención, no hay registro que se haya hecho acá anteriormente; siempre cuando hay casos complejos normalmente vienen médicos de afuera”.
El profesional subrayó: “Lo que logramos ayer es la concreción de una intervención quirúrgica que hasta la fecha se realizaba afuera, nunca se había logrado acá. Son cirugías que yo estoy habituado a hacer allá en Buenos Aires, a pacientes derivados del interior de la Provincia e incluso de distintos puntos del país. Esa es la realidad. O sea que es un primer paso importantísimo. Logramos una cirugía de otro nivel”.
“Fue una operación de pie cavo, sin entrar demasiado en detalle; producto de una condición neurológica. Es una enfermedad neurológica que va generando una degradación de los nervios, para que se entienda fácil, y eso repercute en los pies, generalmente. Entonces, ¿qué es lo que pasa en los pies? Se van deformando progresivamente”, especificó el profesional.
Con relación al trabajo interdisciplinario detalló: “En este caso puntual – detalló Alcorta – ella tiene una afectación de los dos pies. Y eso requiere de una cirugía compleja, no es algo fácil de corregir. Además, estamos hablando de un caso de neuro-ortopedia infantil, que es una sub-especialidad dentro de la propia especialidad. Este tipo de cirugías requieren de un equipo interdisciplinario. En realidad las esferas son clínicas, porque interviene el pediatra y el neurólogo infantil, y la parte de neuro-ortopedia es donde entramos nosotros, que ahí lo que hacemos es ir acompañando y corrigiendo la deformidad”.
“Hace más de un año estaba esperando la cirugía, porque su condición requiere un tratamiento de una especialidad con la que no se contaba en el Hospital. Es una paciente con cobertura pública exclusiva, con asistencia de fisiatra, nosotros trabajamos mucho con fisiatría, que fue en principio la que detectó que la paciente no podía avanzar con kinesiología, con rehabilitación, y por esa razón terminó derivándolo. La cirugía requirió implantable, por lo que se requirió al equipo de Auditoría, que gestiona la compra del material específico”, agregó Alcorta.
Por su parte, el subsecretario de Salud Médica Dr. Fernando Alí destacó: “Nosotros estamos tratando de visualizar lo que se hace dentro del sistema de salud pública de Olavarría, nos parece prioritario que la comunidad sepa qué tipo de Hospital tiene. Poner en valor los servicios, particularmente el caso del Servicio de Pediatría”.
En el mismo sentido, la jefa de Internación Dra. María Elena Carou; añadió que “el Servicio de Pediatría, que es un servicio que siempre funcionó bien, en estos últimos meses ha mejorado mucho con la incorporación de distintos especialistas: Endocrinografía pediátrica que ingresa este año, un hematólogo infantil que está por ingresar, un terapeuta infantil que empezará sus funciones en noviembre; el neurólogo infantil que ya estaba”. La última incorporación al equipo fue la del Dr. Agustín Alcorta.
Al respecto, el Dr. Fernando Alí consideró: “Para beneficio de las y los olavarrienses, cada vez estamos derivando menos pacientes. Es importantísimo para el Servicio de Pediatría contar con profesionales, como en este caso con formación en el Hospital Británico de Buenos Aires, que estén hoy trabajando en el sistema público local”.
Vale decir que no sólo en lo asistencial están retornando profesionales formados y con recorrido afuera en la ciudad, sino también en el área de administración y gestión. En este sentido, Alí hizo hincapié en profesionales como la Lic. María Emilia Castro, profesional con postgrados específicos en gestión de salud. “El sistema de salud no sólo es medicina”, culminó.
